Local sustainable development and environmental protection

During the previous years, FOSDI implemented the program called “Commission for the Drina River for local development and environmental protection” in cooperation with local municipal administrations in the area of ​​the Drina river basin. In its follow-up phase, FOSDI continues to implement and develop this project with the support of the AMESCI organization from Italy and in cooperation with the Regional Development Agency Zlatibor. 10 young volunteers were also engaged in the program, which AMESCI “recruits” as part of the Italian government program, Corpi Civili di Pace, and who constitute an important resource in the processes of establishing cooperation, partnership, joint engagement in building and preserving peace in our region and around the world. FOSDI, with the support of the RDA, is now developing the next phases of the program, respecting the goals of the SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) and being guided by the environmental protection manifesto adopted by the EU – Green Deal. The goals of local sustainable development within this program as well as the CIRCULATION program are: environmental protection, local development of infrastructural and social capacities, investment in social capital, regional cooperation on environmental protection projects and education, especially of young people, about sustainable local development. Activities are carried out in the area of ​​the municipalities of Bajina Bašta, Užice, Čajetina (Zlatibor district) and in cooperation with partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina. CIRCULATION: Our special program, entitled CIRCULATION, is dedicated to the education and development of the local community in the direction of circular economy and sustainable use of natural resources. At the workshops held during October and November 2019, programs, actions, individual and collective efforts are presented to treat the issue of ecology, environmental protection and development chances of rural tourism and cultural heritage as an economic category – as a business opportunity for entrepreneurs and farmers. We realized the CIRCULATION event in the area of ​​Gornja Gruža, the municipalities of Kragujevac, Gornji Milanovac, Topola and Knić. This program is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of the RS.
